Myriad Soulboons

Release time: 2024-07-31

Myriad Soulboons is a new feature introduced in v1.14.0 to replace the over-complicated power-up mechanics, Fabled Article. It reserves the essence of Fabled Articles - offering upgrades to players in your attempts to get to the bottom of the Mirage - but changes Fabled Articles' labyrinth crafting rules to a more intuitive and simple access.

So let's bid sayonara to Fabled Articles that have brought so little joy to so few people, and get to know everyone's new sweetheart, Myriad Soulboons.

*Naga heroes can't be buffed by Soulboons.

Sublimating Soul & Transmigrating Soul

A Sublimating Soul drops at your spawn point once every 2 levels. Once a Sublimating Soul has been obtained, there will be a little icon of it next to your backpack. Tap on it to access the Soulboon screen to select one effect (out of 3) that enhances your stats or abilities. Soulboons selected will display on the left side of your screen.

You can choose to buff yourself up immediately with a boon, or you can postpone the selection after you get one or more Transmigrating Souls (a chance to refresh available Soulboons), so that you can make a better decision based on a wider range of choices.

Transmigrating Soul offers a chance to refresh selectable Soulboons. A hidden boss, upon being killed, drops 2 to 3 Transmigrating Souls.

Soulboons

Soulboons are a range of perks that enhance your stats and abilities but only last for the duration of a run.

General Soulboons can only take effect on the skills with the corresponding affixes. For example, the Area-of-Effect Modifier only works for the skills with Area-of-Effect affix.

All general Soulboons added to v1.14.0 are listed below:

Besides general Soulboons, available Soulboons for you to choose from also include perks that go hand in hand with the skill sets of your current hero. By v1.14.0, all heroes of the Asura clan will be blessed with a variety of Soulboons.

Akaisha as an archer will naturally benefit from general enhancements to projectiles. When such general perks interact with more forces including hero-specific Soulboons, say, Blessing of Clement Winds, the combined effect can easily surpass your imagination.

Blessing of Clement Winds + Projectile Size Modifier Enhancement

The magic that can be done to projectiles isn't limited to archery. With correct Soulboons, Oli's machines can shoot out missiles that explode on impact instead of commonplace pellets.

Flying Fish buffed by Grand Slam Fishballs

Shield Bash buffed by War Mass

Sometimes you don't need an AoE skill to spam the whole room. Thanks to Hot Shot, Hannah's Fire Off skill can target multiple targets with one shot. And the result can be further improved by Ballistic Trigonometry, which makes your bullets rebound upon hitting the wall, allowing you to take full advantage of the environment your hero is in.

Fire Off buffed Hot Shot + Ballistic Trigonometry

Balanced Blade + Swooping Shadow

Soulboons allows Katherine to channel the natural force to the greatest extent. See how she can literally shower the enemies with up to 3 lightning bolts:

Fulmination stacked up twice

Penhaligon never fights alone, but Soulboons know how to get the most out of his sidekicks. When Supreme Command brings Penhaligon an army of clones, that is what we call "team synergy".

Whirling Blow + Swinging Kitty is a super combo of skills that many Peddler mains will go for. Now with the Soulboon Windshear, since Swinging Kitty alone can inflict the tornado, you can free up the potential of Whirling Blow either by boldly choosing Roundhouse Jab or summoning tornadoes one after another.

Soulboons are quite multifaceted. Besides giving a skill a straight bonus, they can also create a combo of attacks centering on a particular skill. Flaming Wreath can turn all normal punches coming after Thunder Phoenix Fix into baby versions of Fiery Phoenix - such a combo is truly a feast to the eye and the death trap to the minions.

Lesser version of Fiery Phoenix

Surprisingly, Penhaligon ain't the only champ that learns how to tap into the power of clones. When Weasel Stash teams up with Expired Rations, Hillding finds himself an equally strong twin in a hectic fight.

Hiken Tsubame Gaeshi buffed by Reverberation

Though some may have more than others (for now), kindly note that Myriad Soulboon is a system that will be constantly updated and so eventually every hero will be given an equal amount of work and attention.
